Kart 2002 is the ultimate 3D Kart racing simulation with 3 different race classes and karts, 16 tracks and a realistic driving experience, all based around the start of Michael Schumacher's career.
In order to live up to this, the kart's reactions have been fine-tuned to simulate real driving conditions. The game's circuits are based on real kart tracks, and just like in real karting the difficulty of courses and strength of the opposition you face increases continuously. Online ranking allows you to compare your performance with that of other drivers.
Epilepsy Warning:
Some people are prone to epileptic fits if they are exposed to flashing lights or particular patterns in the surroundings. These people can be susceptible to epileptic fits when they watch television or play computer games. Even players, who have never had attacks like this before, can suddenly be affected.
Find out from your doctor if you or a member of your family has ever suffered epileptic fits before you start playing computer games. If you suffer any of the following symptoms stop playing immediately and seek medical advice: dizziness, sight disturbances, eye or muscle spasms, confusion, loss of consciousness and/or uncontrollable shaking.
Controls:
Game controls can be configured in the Options Menu/Controls and new keys assigned! You can undo all changes by clicking the bottom "Default" button. This will reinstate all the original (default) settings.
Default Digital Controls (Keyboard):
Turn left - left-arrow key

Accelerate - up-arrow key
Brake / Reverse - Hold down-arrow key depressed
Brake - CTRL or down-arrow key
Rear view - Spacebar
Change view - C

Important Information:
You can change and/or configure all settings for Gamepads, joysticks, steering wheels etc. connected to your computer via the Options menu -> Controls.
If you have a steering wheel connected please open the system Control Panel and select Gaming Options. You will be able to configure and test your controllers in this menu. Please ensure that the option "Multiple Pedals" is selected.
Please ensure that DirectX 8.0 is installed on your computer!
Problems with graphics or sound: Should your computer system have any problems with sound or graphics display, please ensure that you have the most recent drivers for your sound or graphics card installed. Please contact the manufacturer for the newest drivers.
Driving Online: If you select Time Trial Mode you will see an "Online" button appear at the top of the screen. Click it to make two further buttons appear "Super Series" and "Trophy Race".
Super Series: This allows you to race in the Championship as prescribed by the game progression (FUN, ICA, FSA). You have to have qualified for the individual classes in the time trials, before you will be able to enter that class and/or track in the Online Super Series.
Trophy Race: This is a race series managed by an online moderator via the Internet. Sponsors determine the racing tracks, number of laps, as well as the timeframe of the races. You can read the terms and conditions for entering on www.msracingworld.com under "Trophy Races".
Now choose one of the racing series and select an appropriate track. The log-on requester for the MSRW - Kart 2002 - server will appear. Enter your nickname and password as requested. Please ensure that you have an online connection established before doing this! After pressing Enter please wait a moment until the connection to the ranking server of Kart 2002 is made. You will see this confirmed in the LOG-IN status box top right.
Internet Password access: If you do not have a nickname and password for the server yet, please go to the www.msracingworld.com site and enter the professionals area to register. Your registration information will be emailed to you straight away and you can then join the online ranking.
Now all your online driving times (lap and track) will be transferred to the server as soon as you cross the finish. Only the best times for each track will be used. If for some reason you have a slower than usual track time, this will not be registered in the ranking.
The LOG-IN connection to the MSRW server will be automatically broken if you select another game mode! However please note that the connection to your ISP will remain open and must be closed manually via Windows.
You can look at the record lap and track times on the www.msracingworld.com website under "Rankings". Here you will find many different ways of comparing your lap times and track times with those of other players.
Common Problems:
Problem:
I can't get my steering wheel and pedals to work properly.
Possible solution:
Check that your steering wheel and the pedals are functioning correctly i.e. they are correctly calibrated, via their own configuration program before you start playing. Steering wheel and pedals are controlled via DirectX in RT. Because of this it is often advisable to reinstall the steering wheel's software drivers. With some steering wheels it is essential to have both pedals selected as combined axis (select the option "combination pedals").
Problem:
I've got a voodoo graphic card and the screen remains black when I start RT!
Possible solution:
Deactivate the geometry assistant in the card's graphic settings. This can help in most cases - unfortunately, however not in all.
Problem:
I have got a GeForce 2 (or 3) graphic card and everything is grey and foggy!
Possible solution:
Some NVidia drivers need you to enable the "Fog Table Emulation" in the card's Direct 3D settings.
Problem:
The game crashes!
Possible solution:
Just in case your soundcard doesn't support 3D sound or multiple speakers, check that you have activated the option "2 speakers" in the game's configuration menu. Occasionally the pre-set appears as "4 speakers" or "Surround", even though your soundcard doesn't support this. In the worst case this can lead to the game crashing.
